You likey apple crisp?

Try it inside out then!

Step 1: Go apple picking

Step 2: Core the apples (i just used a sharp knife and got the rest out with a fork)

Step 3: Grab your crispy ingredients :

- 1/2 cup oatmeal
- 3 Tablespoons brown sugar
  - 1 teaspoon of pumpkin spice or cinnamon sugar
- Sliced squares of butter
(i live across the street from trader joe's, forgive the advertising)

Step 4: Mix dry ingredients together

Step 5: Scoop the dry ingredients into the cored apples

Step 6: Slice a square of butter on top of the whole thing (it will melt INTO the apple)

Step 7: Bake at 350F for 30 minutes and ENJOY YASELF

Coffee table reads

Hello!

On my way into my apartment today, I received my amazon shipment of a couple books, which lead me to the thoughts of posting about my favorite coffee table reads! So here's a couple of my favorites!

BUST:  A magazine i recently came across while reading other blogs that looked new and different than the normal Cosmo you can get at CVS. Its a hearty feminine magazine that holds lots of fashion, recipes, and interesting articles.

The Polaroid Book: A pretty hefty collection of all things polaroid. It consists of range of professional to amateur polaroid pictures. I'm one of Polaroid's biggest fans so its just natural that I own and love this one.

Yarn Bombing: A book about the art of graffiti using the gift of the stitch! There are groups in different cities all of the words who do this and recently I've come across a few "bombs" in Boston! Its pretty awesome in an absolute non-granny way. Oh and there are tutorials in it on how to start your own yarn bomb group...on my to-do list.

I <3 Macarons: Its one of the books i got today so I haven't had time to try any of the recipes but macarons are probably the cutest dessert you could eat. Upon flipping through there are various recipes for the cookie and the cream part as well as which tools are the best to use. It is my goal to perfect these puppies and bring them to every event I am invited to for ever. I WILL BE the macaron lady.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend! I am on my way to the mountains of New Hampshire with a few girlfrans, so I know I will :)

Enjoy,
Brittany

Let's talk about cupcakes baybay

Cupcakes, a fad that has spread like wildfire beyond the occasional funfetti family bday to basically an artform. They are simple and easy to bake up whether it be boxed or from scratch, but the best part is decorating! They can be made into anything, according to the ~5 books I've acquired in the past couple of years. I thoroughly enjoy pumpin' out a batch to get down to the decorating part.

To tell you the truth, I'm not much of a cake fan at all. I'm in it for the joy of making an awesome looking mini dessert!

Past cupcake endeavors: (mostly featuring the talents of Michelle Masters, my partner in the kitchen)

Baby owls made on a whim the most delicious choc on choc)

Practice wedding red velvet that didnt make the cut

My personal favorite, the garden cupcake

Last but not least, the wedding cupcakes which included a vanilla bean cake with either a strawberry or lemon butter cream frosting

Like I mentioned before, I'm not too big a fan of the cupcake, but they are pretty fun...I am excited to learn new recipes for other desserts with more of a challenge: results coming soon.

A Study Break: In My Dreams

Hello friend! Do you ever just sit in front of the computer procrastinating? Is it when you are studying/ have something very important to do a time when you most just want to be free? That is the story of my life! I day dream about all the pretty things life has to offer...all over the internet...and I get really motivated to make my place the perfect home. But then reality hits and its back to the books! Here's what I found and shed tears over today:

1. I have died and gone to kitchen heaven with that lovely stove!

2. The prettiest granny square this chick has ever came across!

3. The kind of bully everyone loves!

4. A vintage trailer to make my own!

Thee Abode

This place, I feel, needs serious help. Its a very tiny canvas to work with being a studio.

I adore all my furniture pieces and wouldn't part with any that quickly. Maybe its just a bit of color that ismissing? Maybe something to tie it all together? Maybe less clutter?

Check it out (but excuse the low quality phone pictures):

 Dining area of love

The homework area (notice my purdy suitcase is now my crochet storage)

tv stand/clutter shelf of goodies

Favorite couch and my baby pouf

My lovely deer watching over my bed (best purchase to date)

I guess its not too terrible, it just needs something...hmmm...I'll get back to ya'll on it one day after a coat of paint.

Granny Square Central

I'm a sucker for the granny square, what can I say??

Right now I have a fall blanket, a pastel scarf, and a bulky baby blanket in the works. Hey school, can you calm down so i can finish these beauts?

The Fall Blanket ^

The scarf ^ (oh soooo close to being done)

The bulky baby blanket ^ ..Its done-ish, I feel like it needs a pretty edge? Right?

Happy crochet-ing!

Toe-foo..d

Yesterday was my family birthday party. The omas, memeres and aunts and uncles showed up for some homemade German apple cake and raspberry topped cake (2 of my favs).

As I was taking pictures of the delectables, my father decided to stick his foot in each picture!

Here is the deliciousness (try to ignore the toes)

Don't worry, there wasn't extra jam on the raspberry cake...bah nah cheeeeeh

Sundazeee

Rawz (my mama) and I woke up early with plans to drive somewhere fun and shop..

Option #1 York, ME - close to outlets, seafood and the ocean - DENIED because i didn't want to spend too much doe

Option #2 Salem, MA - fall fun n' spooks - DENIED we wanted something morning-appropriate?? and thought that was more of an evening place (yanno halloween creeps and all)

Option #3 A Vermont drive - DENIED :( :( its what i wanted to do but The Rawz wouldn't budge...

Option #4 Derry, NH Flea - A land of mystery finds...otherwise known as junk central. This place was not as gem-tastic as i thought it would be which made me want to find something even more. We walked down row after row of knock-off purse stands and worse-than-your-average-yard-sale crap tables when I spotted what I have been looking for for a few months now...A vintage suitcase to refurbish!! I walked up to the red beauty and unlatched it to find a perfectly clean interior YAY...next price...I turned it over and it had a tiny little price tag with a tiny little $2.00 on it. Wam bam thank you ma'am it's mine!

Now to end this lovely day with a family gathering which will include a German apple cake and a trip to the Slingawhore (Singapore) our local scorpian-bowlery!!

Happy Sunday!

2 Years later....

A nice dinner at the Oak Room in Copley downtown Beantown thanks to BuyWithMe coupon...I was scared it was going to be snooty but was pleasantly surprised they weren't. Taxidermy on the walls and complimentary cotton candy after dinner made it my kinda place! Happy 2 years to my Vinny Love!!
